Update #3 - Core Rules Solidified!



Greetings Tacticians! Update #3 is here and with it come the final big rules tweaks, new art from Helena Santana, lore changes, and expanded examples of play. Apologies for the far-too-long delay on getting this too you (life always finds a way to disrupt even well-laid plans)! The next update should come much sooner, now that the last nitty-gritty rules changes have been made and I can dig into further expanding the Almanac, polishing and expanding the starter adventure/campaign, and more! RULEBOOK

Tactician’s Textbook

  • Added Inspirations to Credits.
  • Updated version number from 0.8.3 to 0.9.
  • Tweaked lore in The Fall of Ahm section.
    • Tacticians are now selected for enrollment in the Academy and are, in truth, partially corrupt3d. Tacticians have been freed from the preprogrammed lives of their fellow Ahmian NPCs due to the uncertainty introduced into their code by the corrupt1on.
  • Added A Wide World section giving a primer to the various regions of the game world.
  • Added Digital Limitations to What is Tacticians of Ahm? section.
  • Added Tactician Levels.
  • Reworked Aptitude Checks to Aptitude Saves.
  • Base Stats no longer rely on your highest-level Class. Base stats are now set by your starting Class at character creation and modified over the course of standard Advancement. All Base Attacks gained across all Classes are now available at all times.
  • FIGHTER:
    • Changed Base Attack damage to TL.
    • Changed Defender to CLX (X = number of adjacent allies).
  • CLERIC:
    • Changed Base Attack damage to TL.
  • ROGUE:
    • Changed Base Attack damage to TL.
  • Weapon damage scaling changed to TL (from CL).
  • Altered standard armor inventory slot consumption amounts.
  • Shield damage blocking scaling changed to TL (from CL).
  • Strength potion scaling changed to TL (from CL).
  • Overhauled Initiative, removing the more complex (and confusing) alternating initiative structure with a more straightforward overall Speed order and single initiative list.
  • Movement is now all-at-once, removing the ability to split movement before or after your combat Action. Now, you may execute an Action and then move up to your Speed OR move up to your Speed and then execute an Action.
  • Backstab changed to +TL damage (from +CL).
  • Example of Play - Combat expanded and reworked to follow and showcase updated rules.
  • Relationship invocations are now a shared pool between both members.

Gamemaster’s Guidebook

  • Magic Weapon damage scaling changed to TL (from CL).
  • Enemy creation guidance updated to reflect TL.
  • Added Goblin art (by Helena Santana) to Bestiary.

EARLY GRADUATION

  • No updates (at this time).

AHMIAN ALMANAC

  • Updated version number from 0.8.3 to 0.8.4.
  • Added Wavewalker and Dire Snipe art (by Helena Santana).
